Marame's Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy two sheep and a crate of fresh fish.

Marame's Group's story

This group of seven members belongs to the Banc Villageois which was set up in February 2001. The group is made up of women from the same village, who get on well together and have small trading businesses and raise animals.

Marame, who is standing on the right of the photo with her hand raised, is the star borrower of the group. She has been raising animals for years, and at the same time buys and sells fresh fish. With her new loan she is planning to buy two sheep, which she will fatten up and resell after five months. With the balance of the loan she will buy a crate of fresh fish, which she will sell retail.

The profits she makes will be used mainly to buy food for her family and to save with the Banc Villageois.
