Kousar's story

Kousar, 37 years old, is married and works from home as a tailor. She has been in this business for two years, and is proud to be contributing to her household income. When Kousar was not earning an income, her family was going through a severe financial crisis that compelled her to use her stitching skills in a productive manner. Her husband was the sole breadwinner for the family, so Kousar felt obligated to change her family’s living standards, and started working from home.

Kousar's hard work helped her establish a good clientele, but she was having difficulty fulfilling large orders. She contacted BRAC Pakistan and applied for a loan to buy stock of threads in different colors, packs of buttons, needles, and lace in order to meet the demands of her customers. She hopes to grow her business, and dreams of giving her three children a quality education through her hard work in her business.
