Mary Gorret's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy more timber to sell.

Mary Gorret's story

Mary Gorret is 37 years old and lives in the town of Fort Portal in Uganda. She has three children who are all currently in school. For the past seven years, Mary Gorret has been working hard to manage her timber business, which sells timber for construction.

To help expand her business, Mary Gorret has requested a loan of 4,000,000 Ugandan shillings (UGX) from BRAC Uganda. She will use it to add new stocks of different types of timber to appeal to her customers. This will help her to generate greater profits and support her children's school fees. She hopes that in the future she will be able to buy more timber stocks and increase her income.

Mary Gorret is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like her, who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
