Roda's story

Hello Kiva lenders, meet Roda, 21 years old, a self-driven woman, living in Mathare slums, Nairobi County. She has four siblings that depend on her mother, a housewife. Life has not been an easy dash for her, and she almost lost hope, especially with regard to higher education.

She joined DDD (Digital Divide Data) in October 2014. Roda declares that her employer’s mission and vision for the talented youths from poor backgrounds thrilled her and revamped her determination. DDD has a work-study program that sees young people through professional career growth and development.

Roda is a first-year student at Zetech University pursing a Diploma course in Accounting and Finance. She is a beneficiary of the partial scholarship from DDD, but she is seeking additional tuition fees from Kiva lenders to help her achieve her childhood dream of becoming an accountant. She hopes to improve the standard of her community back in the village and one day be able to educate other young stars with challenges she went through during her secondary school life.
