Recho's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase a dairy cow and increase her milk vending business.

Recho's story

Recho is a smallholder farmer from Kapsimba in Siongiroi, Kenya. She is a mother of nine. Like many farmers in the region, she keeps a dairy cow. Siongiroi has a thriving market for dairy products. Recho has sustained herself through dairy farming for seven years now.

She has aspirations of expanding her dairy farm but due to financial constraints, she has been unable to do so until now. From Kiva lenders, Recho is borrowing KES 60000 to purchase a high yielding dairy cow, so as to increase her milk vending business. This cow will boost milk production in the farm. As a result, she will have more quantity for both consumption and sales. With the money from the additional sales, she will be able to service her loan on time.

With the increased income from the loan, Recho plans to spend money to settle the high farming cost of production. In the long run, her family will realize an improved standard of living.
