Chit Thu -1 (B) Village Group's story

Chit Thu village is located in Pakokku Township. Most people in this village earn their livelihood by farming, raising goats, sheep and pigs, or migrating to cities or abroad in search of job opportunities and sending money back home. The village is famous for its agricultural products including groundnuts, sesame, and rice. The main roads around the village are very rough and muddy, especially during monsoon season, and now, village leaders are fundraising from each house to repair the roads.

Kyuak, San, Maw and Thin in the above picture are loan customers from Chit Thu village. Kyuak (first from the left) is a 44-year-old farmer living with his six family members. Kyuak has been farming for 30 years. The farm was operated by his ancestors. Moreover, he is very passionate about farming and loves working on his farm.

This new loan will be used for purchasing farming inputs such as seeds and high quality fertilizer to yield more nourished crops, so that it will boost their monthly income. Kyuak is an honest, religious farmer who loves reading the sacred texts of Buddhism in his spare time and is respected by people in the village.
