Kan Taunt-2 (D) Village Group's story

Included in the picture are Khin, Yoke, Kyin, Kay, San, Tin and Kho, seven loan clients from Kan Taunt-2 (D) Village Group in Pakokku Township. Pakokku Township is known as the dry zone area in Myanmar where inadequate rainfall is very common compared to other regions. But this township is famous for its production of the traditional cosmetic, “Thanakha” and cotton fabrics. Villagers around this areas mainly grow cotton and a variety of beans as well.

35 year-old Khin (1st from the left), is a featured borrower of this group. Khin and her husband earn for their living as farmers whose major crops are sesame, black gram, and ground nuts. Khin’s loan portion will be invested to purchase farming essential inputs like crop seeds and good quality compost for the nourishment of each crop. This will ideally result in higher income and better cash flow for her household.
