Himelda's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to remove weeds and to buy compost for her organic and fair-trade coffee farm.

Himelda's story

Himelda is 47 years old, and she lives with her husband and their five children in the hamlet of Los Lirios, La Coipa, in Peru. In order to provide for her family, Himelda and her husband Faustino earn a living through various jobs such as selling chickens, selling basic need items in the store located in their home, and growing coffee, which is their main job that they have been performing for more than 20 years. Her coffee farm produces a very high quality of coffee, and it is sold to Cenfrocafe Cooperative with an organic market and fair trade for 12 years. Since she was very young, Himelda has been growing coffee, and thanks to this she has been able to reach her goal of giving her oldest son a college education, and she hopes that all of her children can pursue university studies.

With the loan, Himelda will buy compost for her farm, and pay workers to do the weeding. With the other sources of income and with the earnings she will get from the 2017 coffee campaign, Himelda and her family will invest in building a brick house in their same town where they will be more comfortable and they can expand their grocery business. She has been a member of Norandino for seven years, and she is grateful that they keep providing her with loans. She knows that by being responsible and punctual with her payments, the doors will always be open when she needs its services.
