A loan helped to buy palm oil for her business.

Matotoka Group's story

Umu is 34 years old and a mother of three children aged 12, 8, and 4. Umu sells food as her business. She started the business to be independent and to financially support her children. She currently has one family member who helps in the business.

Matotoka Solidarity group members have requested a loan, a total of SLL 10,000,000, and of this amount Umu is to receive SLL 4,000,000 which she will use to buy additional gallons of palm oil to sell.

The profits will help her to pay for food and to buy learning materials and water. Umu hopes to continue saving for her children’s education. Umu and the rest of her group members thank you for your support.

Umu was able to pay for more gallons of palm oil and to expand the business and increase sales. She was able to meet her household expenses, personal needs, and her extended family's needs. They are grateful to their lenders for supporting them because their previous loan made a great impact on their livelihood.
