Lebone Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped To pay for an ACE cook stove, which will improve her life in terms of health, cost of fuel, and the time she spends collecting firewood.

Lebone Group's story

Mathabo is a 66-year-old widowed mother of 1 child, grandmother of 1, living in a family of 2. She lives in 2 separated traditional huts that are not well ventilated nor do they warm up well. She uses candles and paraffin and often cooks on open fire. This is very expensive for a woman who relies on her son to provide for her.

Mathabo has requested a loan from Kiva lenders in order to be able to purchase clean cook stoves which provide her and 5 other people from her village living in similar circumstances the chance of cooking in a way that does not harm them and their families, and that does not require a lot of wood nor expensive electricity, paraffin and gas. This stove can be started with the use of very little, readily available biomass like dry twigs and dry cow dung that do not require lengths of time to collect. It does not produce smoke while burning, thus making it safe to be used inside the homes. It provides better lighting, saves energy and time.
