Rorisang Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to pay for an ACE cook stove, which will improve her life in terms of health, cost of fuel, and the time she spends collecting firewood.

Rorisang Group's story

Mantsoebe is a 74 year-old married mother 10 children and eight grandchildren, living in a family of four. She lives in a traditional hut that is not ventilated nor warms up well. She cooks on an open fire and uses a paraffin lamp and candles for lighting, all very dangerous. She sustains life from a pension fund both she and her husband get. Life is hard for this family.

Mantsoebe has requested a loan from Kiva lenders, in order to be able to purchase a clean cook stove, which will provide her and 13 other people from her village living in similar circumstances, the chance of cooking in a way that does not harm them and their families, and that does not require a lot of wood nor expensive electricity, paraffin and gas. This stove can be started with the use of very little, readily available biomass like dry twigs and dry cow dung that do not require lengths of time to collect. It does not produce smoke while burning, thus making it safe to be used inside the homes. It provides better lighting, saves energy and time.
