Trabajadoras De Pasaul Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase more inventory for her store (rice, pasta, salt, coffee, sugar).

Trabajadoras De Pasaul Group's story

Seven Maya K’iche women formed the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank “Trabajadoras de Pasaul” or “Hardworking Women of Pasaul” in a rural area outside the town of Sacapulas. The ladies are beginning their first loan with Kiva! The ladies want to invest in their businesses that include convenience stores, farming (tomatoes, chiles, beans, corn), and animal husbandry (chickens and turkeys) with the objectives of increasing their inventories and earnings, as well as meeting the demand of their customers.

Women, like 41-year-old Magdalena, are motivated and determined to succeed in not one or two, but three businesses! She has a small convenience store, a little farm and raises pigs! In addition, she is the mother of five children who range in age from 5-21. She is requesting a loan to purchase more inventory for her store (rice, pasta, salt, coffee, sugar) and invest earnings in her farm (radishes, onions, cucumbers, carrots). She is pleased that she shares the many ways she has to improve the economy of her household with her husband.

As the women have had little or no formal education, they are eager to acquire tools to improve their lives and their businesses. The “Microcredit Plus” Program of Friendship Bridge (loans + education) is a good fit.

Thank you, Kiva lenders!
