Monique's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase cold-pressed juicer equipment and bottling supplies needed for our smoothie bar kiosks and for supplying our popup smoothie bar customers with healthful, organic cold-pressed juice.

Monique's story

My name is Monique Dooley and I’m the founder of Fresh101. I am an educator, holistic heath coach and firm believer that food is medicine. I attended Howard University for undergrad and received a Master's of Arts in Teaching at Wayne State University. I am a BUILD Institute graduate and future graduate of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Program (July 2016) and the Educational Specialist Certificate Program at Wayne State (December 2017). Through lifestyle changes, I healed myself of low blood sugar and weight issues. Through this research, I later studied to become a Holistic Health Coach. Educating the community on wellness became a passion of mine when I worked with my second grade students to change our eating habits. We began by spreading our sugary breakfast snacks and adding healthy snacks throughout the day. This balanced out their blood sugar and decreased their likelihood of becoming drowsy during the school day. After seeing the increase in clarity in the kids, we became "nutritional detectives"studied nutrition labels and involved our parents. Rave reviews on behavior changes and increased energy level emerged and I knew I'd found my passion. In 2013, I served as the visionary and cofounder of GO! Smoothies, a vegan smoothie and juice bar in Downtown Detroit until 2016. I still realized that the residential neighborhoods of Detroit, the families, the kids, need fast healthy food options such as smoothie products, raw juice. Although GO! was and is still a success, I sold my shares and I've launched my dream company in hopes to provide real, whole fast food snack/meal options at economical prices to the neighborhoods. I dream of a Detroit where families have a variety of options to grab fast fresh food within walking distance. I dream of healthy, energized, balanced Detroit communities who use food as medicine.
