Amina's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase raw betel nuts in bulk for her existing business.

Amina's story

Amina is a 32-year-old rural woman. She lives with her husband and two children in Falakata. Her son is studying in grade 11 and her daughter is in grade 7.

Amina's husband is involved in a wood business. Amina sells betel nuts to give her family additional financial support. Betel nut is a kind of mouth freshener that is used by the local people. She knows that the villagers are fond of betel leaves (taken with betel nuts) after their laborious work. So, there is a huge demand for betel nuts in her locality. As they have no betel nut trees, she has to purchase raw betel nuts from the wholesale market and, after removing the shells, she cuts the sun-dried betel nuts into small pieces to sell in the local market shops and nearby Pan stalls.

Amina is a hardworking entrepreneur who is always concerned with her family’s well being. So, Amina is seeking a loan from BJS, a Kiva partner, to purchase raw betel nuts in bulk.

Her dream is to enhance the business and obtain a greater income that will enable her to run her family smoothly.

Amina is thankful to her lenders.
