Sumaira's story

Sumaira is a 29-year-old woman living with her husband in the area of Multan, Pakistan. She is a mother of four children. Her native language is Punjabi, which she speaks with her family, and she speaks Urdu culturally and for her business. They live in a rented room made of brick that has drinking water, electricity and plumbing. Her husband is responsible for fulfilling the needs of the entire family, but Sumaira has been running an embroidery business for 10 years to meet other expenses. Her enterprise is very famous in the area, and that is the reason her business runs well. Due to good relations, her business is steadily increasing. Sumaira wants to meet the demand for bridal dresses. She has therefore requested a loan from BRAC Pakistan to buy thread, fancy cloth, sequins and pearls of various colors to have in stock. Sumaira and her family will be thankful to Kiva, its lenders and field partner BRAC Pakistan for helping them by funding this loan to improve their living standard.
