A loan helped buy wholesale wool.

Sartawi De San Roque Group's story

The “Sartawi de San Roque” communal bank will begin its ninth cycle in Pro Mujer, as part of the Panamericana focus center. It is comprised of nine members and is led by a board with Mareylina as the treasurer. The loan that they take out will benefit the small businesswomen such as Mareylina. Currently, she has a business selling traditional shawls. She discloses that she learned this business from her sister in law five years ago. The loan that she will take out will be to grow capital through the purchase of wholesale wool that she will get from the wholesellers in the city of La Paz. After creating the shawls, she sells them in her stall. This type of work allows her to generate income to support her family financially, as she is a single mother of two children. Note: There are eight members in the photo. Nora is in the photo, but only her body is seen, not her face.
