Martin's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to pay for the earthmoving works and to buy imported seed.

Martin's story

Martin is a 63-year-old man, married, has children of full age and independent, and his business is farming. He works at the locality “El Torno”, a rural area that provides food for the city. Martin lives with his wife who works in agriculture. They have a house made out of wood that has electric power and well water. He cultivates potatoes, yucca, barley, oats and sweet potatoes, among others.

This time he is working the land to plant two hectares of watermelon, which is easy to cultivate in the land and doesn’t need especial care. His planning foresees the harvest by the end of November. “We use imported seeds with the purpose of having good crops”, he says. He will have a successful harvest because the whole procedure is being planned according to his schedule.

The advantage is that he sells the whole harvest; the disadvantage is the lack of funds to start the earthmoving activities and to buy seeds. His dream is to have more lands and helpers to work them. He will use the loan to pay for the earthmoving works and to buy imported seeds. He is on his third loan cycle with the institution in the 49 years that he has worked doing this activity.
