A. Malam Saleh's story

A. Malam Saleh is a hardworking Babban Gona maize farmer from the village of Layin Alhaji Dayyabu. He lives in a modest mud house with his family. Thanks to his hard work, he feeds his family three well-balanced meals a day.

With a Babban Gona membership, A. Malam Saleh will have access to better-yielding seed, fertilizer, herbicide, and other more efficient inputs that will help him optimize his farm and attain yields of up to 3.5 metric tons per hectare. Not only is this yield 2.3 times higher than the national average in Nigeria, it also results in an increase in income—3.5 times higher than the national average for him.

This season, A. Malam Saleh will use the income generated from his maize sales to pay his children's school fees. His greatest memory as a Babban Gona farmer is when he used his profits to go on a pilgrimage to Mecca. He is confident that with Babban Gona his future is secure and he will have many more great memories and amazing accomplishments together with his family.
