Lady Diana's story

Lady, age 33, has a 14 year old son and two daughters, ages 16 and 18. She works with her husband in the family business of making and selling shoes. She worked as an employee at a shoe factory upon until three years ago. Then she took advantage of the knowledge she had gained and used her savings to get the machinery and supplies needed to set up her own business at her house.

She works from Sunday to Sunday making and selling a great variety of formal and informal shoes for women, men, and children. Her customers are the stores and merchants in the area.

She is now applying for her first Kiva loan with the Fundación Mario Santo Domingo. She plans to use the loan to buy an industrial sewing machine that will allow her to improve the quality of her products, to build a relationship of confidence with her customers, and to generate an adequate return on the investment. Her vision for the future is to generate a consolidated family business, to create her own brand and to completely satisfy her customers.
