Rosas Sacatepequez Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy the latest styles and colors of sandals at the wholesale level, to sell.

Rosas Sacatepequez Group's story

San Juan Sacatepéquez is located outside of Guatemala City, and is known as a fertile area where lots of flowers are grown. A large quantity of wooden furniture is produced here as well. The population is both traditional Maya K’iche and mixed race, or “ladino”. The trust bank “Rosas Sacatepequez” formed by 7 women is located in this place.

Kiva investors, partnering with Friendship Bridge, are of great value to these ladies. They have various businesses, like sales of traditional textiles, flowers and women’s sandals, and are excited to begin their 1st loan cycle with Kiva.

Dora is a member of the group, and she has 3 children who are all enrolled in school. This hardworking 32-year-old buys and sells women’s leather sandals, selling them in nearby locales. Her sandals enjoy great demand, and she is requesting a loan to buy the latest styles and colors at the wholesale level. Dora has learned about effective business practices in the monthly educational trainings of the group. Along with the other ladies in the group, she is also learning about self-esteem and empowerment, setting goals, healthy practices and good nutrition.

Thank you, Kiva investors, for your kindness in funding loans for Dora and her friends in the Trust Bank. Armed with their new tools, they are stepping into a brighter future, benefitting themselves, their families and their community!
