Ppao Women's Association's story

PPAO Women’s Association is a newly organized women's association. The members of this association are 35 active members of NWTF's Project Dungganon who banded together in order to earn additional income for their families while helping the community to purchase household products at a reasonable price and eliminate additional transportation costs.

The women already know each other well because they are all neighbors and live within the same community, and as NWTF Project Dungganon members, they have been meeting weekly for several years.

They borrowed PHP 150,000 through NWTF to purchase stock of household products to sell like canned goods, sugar, coffee, milk, chips, shampoo, soap, diapers, etc. They earn additional income from rice and feeds retailing.

The accompanying picture shows members of association – Gloria, Mary Grace, Roselyn, Salvacion, Letecia, Virgita, Jonalyn, Nenet, Evelyn, Ma. Lyn, Susan, Chariza, etc.

Their aspiration is that with the continued success of the association's business activities, they can grow their capital enough to put up a grocery store in their community where locals can purchase food supplies at a reasonable price, and also encourage more women to join their association.
