Hin Thar -3 Villge Group's story

Pictured above are Kyi, Thaung, Khin, Myint, and Hnin who are five leaders of Hin Thar-3 village group in Pakokku Township. At this time of year the village usually has the Thiho Shin Pagoda Festival and this famous festival is filling all of the village members with excitement. Most people are busy preparing Myanmar traditional foods, toys, and accessories to sell in the festival.

Kyi (middle in the picture), the featured borrower of this group, is a religious, hardworking, single woman living with her beloved parents and siblings. Farming has been the main livelihood for Kyi and her family. They have been operating the farm for generations. Kyi and her fellow members will use the loan for farming expenses such as crop seeds and labor costs that will be necessary to enrich and efficiently harvest their crop. Labor is expensive given that most young people are migrating to cities in search of job.

Being a single woman, the biggest dreams of Kyi are to have enough of clothing for her family and to extend the farm land.
