A loan helped to build a hygienic toilet in her home.

Subhadra's Group's story

Subhadra, standing in the middle, considers her life pathetic and miserable due to the absence of toilet at her home. A critical victim of India's sanitation crisis, she resides in a tribal village of Koraput district, Odisha, India.

Her household income is very low, and for this reason, she was never able to build a suitable toilet for her family. Without access to a toilet, she faces a lot of problems as she has to travel a long distance to relieve herself. She no longer finds it feasible to depend on an open field for defecation, as she feels she is exposed to crimes and infections. Furthermore, she is ending up spending lot of money on medicines that can be avoided if steps are taken beforehand.

Therefore, Subhadra, along with her other group members, is requesting a loan amount of 45,000 INR from Kiva's partner Peoples Forum. She will use her portion of the loan amount to build a hygienic toilet in her home. Access to basic sanitation will result in safety, improved health, medical savings, and improved productivity.

Subhadra is in dire need of your kind help and generous support and is eagerly awaiting the same.
