Manjula's Group's story

Manjula, standing on the left hand side in the photograph, is known in her village for her innovative, colorful designs in weaving. She weaves tablecloths and cushion covers with absolute creativity and design. She later sells these products to cloth traders, wholesalers, and retailers. Manjula hails from a small village in Rajgangpur, Odisha, India and is a widow who lost her husband in an unfortunate incident.

Managing a family of five, including her parents and two kids, she weaves with precision and subtlety for almost seven to eight hours a day. She is the only breadwinner of the family and undertook this business after she lost her husband. She wants to spread her skills and use her talent more by increasing her business.

She, along with her other group member, is requesting a loan of 30,000 INR from Kiva's partner People's Forum. She will use her portion of the loan amount to buy different colors, starch, and cotton threads in bulk, thereby increasing her stock.

Manjula is eagerly awaiting your kind help and generous support with lots of hope and aspirations.
