Eugenia's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to purchase cooking supplies and a refrigerator to sell food on the Altiplano.

Eugenia's story

Eugenia is a 31-year-old woman, married, who has 2 sons ages 1 and 6, and 2 daughters ages 3 and 8, and her business is selling food.

She does her daily work, peeling potatoes and onions, adding salt and stirring. She ends her day, and finishes all her food, to bring food to her home and to form it again. Her business is located in the rural zone of Chua Chocani, where the people primarily work at agriculture, raising animals, and fishing.

Eugenia is calm and friendly. Each sentence she speaks is a verse of grace and harmony because her native language is Aymará which she speaks in the place and she speaks Spanish. She has her life with her husband, who works as a builder, and with her children who go to school. They live in a room built of adobe which only has electricity because there are no other utilities in the place.

Her business is the sale of food such as "El Wallake" which is a fish soup accompanied by freeze-dried potato. It is very popular in the place due to its curative properties. It is served very hot because the area is quite cold. She makes her sales near the transportation stop, pushing a 2-wheel cart where she carries her cooking supplies, a container and a hotplate. In addition, she carries a pair of benches to sit on and an umbrella. "I always have customers and at midday all my food is already gone..." she says. Her business is successful because it is well-located. The advantage of her business is that the drivers are regular customers. The disadvantage is the lack of cooking supplies such as potatoes, meat, oil, and a refrigerator. This is her first loan cycle with the institution in the 5 years she has done this work.

It is for these reasons that Eugenia asks for a loan to purchase cooking supplies and a refrigerator to sell food on the Altiplano.
