Benkadi 1 Group's story

Nouhoum is a 37 year-old farmer who lives in Mali. He has two stay-at-home wives and is father to seven children aged between one and seventeen, one of which is in schooling. Besides farming, Nouhoum also raises cows as a secondary source of income. Pictured holding the cow's rope, he has been raising cows for eight years. Nouhoum is a member of a group of five men. He receives financial aid from RMCR for his livestock business. He buys cows in the surrounding markets, following which he raises the animals until the following season when he re-sells them in the same markets. After sale, he makes an estimated monthly profit of 60,000FCFA per animal. These profits allow him to meet his family's needs, such as: healthcare, school fees, clothing. He is currently experiencing difficulties with animal feed. Nouhoum plans to grow his business for a better future.
