Illampu De Taramaya Group's story

The “Illampu de Taramaya” communal loan group will begin its second loan cycle with Pro Mujer, as part of the Centro Focal de Copacabana. It is made up of nine members and is led by officers, of whom Silvia is the president. The businesses that the members of the communal loan group carry out are varied and among them are: milk sales, clothing sales, food sales, a neighborhood store, and quilt and blanket sales.

The loan that they get will benefit the small micro-entrepreneurs of whom Silvia is one. She says that this is her second year joining Pro Mujer, joining at the invitation of her friend who is a client of the institution. Currently, she has a business selling milk, she states that she learned this business from her parents twenty-five years ago.

The loan that she is now getting is to increase her capital (purchase cattle), which she will get from the wholesalers in her community and, after raising them, they will serve as a means of production. This type of work allows her to generate resources to support her family economically, since she is single.

When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she replies that she likes the health center the institution offers.
