Esther's story

For almost seven years, Esther has been operating this “sari-sari” or variety store business in her community in Toril, Davao City. She started with few items like sachets of shampoo, cookies, candies, and repacked condiments. Little by little, she has added more supplies, and now she is already retailing rice, charcoal, dried fish, and some vegetables. Later on, she plans to venture into other business to increase her profit. She and her husband, Severino, are doing their best efforts to support the education of their children. Esther has a positive mindset to make her business more profitable. She would like to avail herself of a loan worth PHP 50,000 to buy more quantities of groceries, beverages, sacks of rice and charcoal, dried fish and vegetables for her store. She will also save some amount for her prospective new business. She’s thankful that CCT is providing her along with her co-fellowship* members some valuable tips on how to manage their businesses properly. She also draws inspiration from their sharing of testimonies and reflection on the Word of God. *All CCT community partners/clients are organized into fellowship groups that meet on a weekly basis. A fellowship group is composed of 15 to 20 community partners. The fellowship groups gather each week to study the Word of God, build social capital, and pay Micro Finance loans.
