Mary's loan finished fundraising,

A loan helped to buy chicks and chicken feeds.

Mary's story

This is Mary, a married lady who is aged 57 years. She has four children, aged 39, 36, 34 and 20 years. Her husband is a driver and she is a poultry farmer. They both support the family with their earnings.

Her business entails rearing chickens, both broilers and layers. She has been in this business for a long time and it has helped her bring up her children. Her challenge is working capital to expand her business. With a Kiva loan, she will buy chicks and chicken feeds that will see her poultry farm grow.

She will use the profit to grow her business and educate her grandchildren. She purchases her feeds from the local suppliers, and she employs people to slaughter and ferry the chickens to her clients. This is Mary's first loan.

Her dream is to expand her business and educate her grandchildren to university.
