but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped purchase a record cutting machine, inventory, and employ musicians.

Jonathan's story

My name is Jonathan Perez. I'm a 28 year-old musician and entrepreneur. I have always had a knack for entertaining and creating services to sell, starting with selling juice, candy, tamales, and hand-crafted trinkets to my class mates. I have been a performer for 18 years and have connected with a massive network in California. 12 years ago I started a custom guitar pedal business which included repairs and modifications to amplifiers to serve the musicians in Sacramento and Hollywood who were constantly in need of those services. 3 years ago I took it upon myself to learn about screen printing to engage our audience with merchandise. All the while I have worked with organizations to coordinate festivals and events to gain skills I knew would be far more useful than simply playing the guitar. Currently I am working 3 jobs on top of my other services in Berkeley and Oakland, and am mostly homeless, sleeping in our studio to make sure that music is constantly driving me and my peers who have all been generous in knowing that something great lies ahead. My hunger for success in the music industry as a sonic servant and to establish myself as a professional musician is unparalleled. For the future I imagine myself cutting records and collaborating in the studio with some of my favorite artists as well as creating more interesting events and performing.
