Jolly's story

Jolly Grace Okot Andruvile the founder of Wend Africa shares the same fate as the women that have been rescued. Her vision is to see peace prevail and give more opportunity for those affected by the war as well as vulnerable children. The girls that were rescued needs support to get the second chance they deserve, but in addition to the support they receive, they needed sustainability. These girls have young children and they needed steady income to help support their children, but also needed the chance to live a decent life with dignity. Most of them face a big challenge in the community because of their relation with the LRA, and family members are hesitant to take care of their children who are called “bush kids” because they were born while in abduction. They face a huge challenge as most of them find it hard to get married because the men are afraid to take responsibility of their children with a few exceptions. Wend Africa, a social enterprise, connects these women with other women who are involved in business. They share experience and exchange skills that are crucial to making a decent livelihood. As much as they have not had the opportunity to achieve their dreams, Wend Africa is to help them see their children have a better future through education.
