Paula's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support
A loan helped purchase sows, feeder pigs, and feed to scale up our pork enterprise.
Growing up in rural northern California, I initially dreamt of one day going to college and leaving the place I grew up. As I neared graduation, I realized that I was lucky enough to be born in the most beautiful place on the Earth and decided that what I really wanted was to remain in the place where I grew up. I went from being on an honor's track taking AP classes to taking my high school profeciency exam and dropping out of high school. Initially I went to our local communtiy college and worked vocationally-oriented jobs. Eventually, along with a friend, we started Mendocino Organics. He has since moved on to be Vineyard Manager for Frey Vineyards while I have continued to develop Mendocino Organics, along with my fiancee Paula, and made it what it is today. Paula and I strive to have a business that is financially secure, offers meaningful and gainful emplyment, is environmentally appropriate, and provides healthy food for it's community. When I was 11, I really wanted a summer job at the local pear packing shed but couldn't get one because I was too young to get a work permit. So instead, my parents lent me the money to buy a string trimmer and I hired myself out to mow people's hillsides out behind their houses. Fire prevention is big business in California and it didn't take me long to pay my parents back.
