Arthur's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped supply working capital for our food truck for the first 6 months of our retail food operations.

Arthur's story

I was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee and was the son of a celebrated and acclaimed chef/restaurateur in Memphis. I worked in my father's restaurants growing up, where he learned to cook and tend bar. I attended the University of Chicago for a year as an undergraduate, and completed my political science degree and history minor at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. During college, I also worked in a local wine store and attended wine education classes. I intended to join the legal field by attending law school at the University of Memphis, but decided I wanted a more “hands-on” career. Leaving the legal profession behind, I managed a local wine store and taught wine tasting classes. I eventually moved to New York City where I worked for two leading global financial/investment firms for seven years until 2012. While living in New York City, I met Rachel Hundley, my business partner at church, and we bonded over a shared college football experience and our southern upbringing. Eventually Rachel invited me to join her in a business venture, and I accepted. My dreams for the future are to operate a successful food truck business in the Bay Area, and then move onto to have my own local wine bar in San Francisco. After all that hard work, I hope to be able to live both in San Francisco and New York City, and travel all around the world. I started and led the first softball team at my church in New York. I chaired the Finance Committee at my church as well and served on the Board of Trustees and help navigate the organization through a financial crisis. I was one of the youngest managers in the retail wine business in Memphis.
