Lourdes's story

Claudia and I both grew up in Mexico and met soon after we came to the US. Lourdes developed a young entrepreneurial spirit while I worked at my family’s Taqueria. As a young adult, I took an interest in baking and enrolled into baking classes, and I soon began making sales of my own. Claudia was also a young entrepreneur. She contributed to her family by selling sandwiches and desserts like gelatin. She enjoyed meeting a satisfied customer. Like many other immigrants, we were not able to establish ourselves in Mexico and were forced to venture out to the United States for a better opportunity. Since we came to the U.S., we became close friends, sharing over 20 years of food industry of experience each. I am currently working at a French Bakery, where I have been able to apply my skills previously acquired in school, and learn new things as well. Claudia continues to provide excellent customer service and delicious meals at a Mexican Restaurant. We enrolled into AnewAmerica’s entrepreneur training program and decided to start a business together- Sweet Thoughts Bakery. With our complimentary skills, Claudia and I can lead Sweet Thoughts Bakery to be a successful and lucrative business.
