Josh's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped grow my production an estimated 200%.

Josh's story

I grew up in Portland, Oregon until it was time to leave for college and the sunny skies and golden coast of California. When I left Portland in 2002, there wasn't much of a food scene there (I never ate sushi until I got to Cali), but in the last 10 years the food scene has really put Portland on the map. Unfortunately, I haven't been there to enjoy it...Portland is arguably the food truck capital of the world right now. Now I reside in Oakland with my fiancé and step-daughter. We started Sugar Knife Artisan Sweets to help provide jobs in Oakland and spur economic growth. The food scene in Oakland is beginning to percolate as a lot of artisans are moving to the East Bay from SF due to the increased cost of living the last few years. We currently belong to Kitchener Oakland, which is a shared commercial kitchen facility consisting of 30 of the most bad-ass independent artisans in the Bay Area. What happened in Portland the last 10 years WILL happen in Oakland over the next 10 years. And we're going to be a big part of that. Last year we launched a successful Kickstarter, raising 210% of our fundraising goal. As avid candymakers by hobby, my fiancé (Jenna) and I decided to follow our passion and launch a candy business that combines some of our favorite ingredients. We make candy with alcohol...sorry kiddos. Thanks for being a part of our story and I hope you get a chance to try some of our boozy sweets soon! Josh
