Patismedina Group's story

A loan of $450 will help Sheila increase her chicken batches. She will be able to buy a batch of chickens and all the recommended feeds from the starter to finisher feeds and restock her vegetable stall. The Patismedina group has four members who are actively into poultry businesses and also cross border trading. It has members who do not wait on one source of income but diversify into other trades like sewing, manning a vegetable stall and cross boarder trading, restocking from Mozambique. The Patismedina Group is based in Budiriro and they know each other from their neighbourhood and the poultry business line. The group members are very supportive of each other’s businesses to the extent that they can even sell products on behalf of each other for example if one runs out of birds she takes some from other members.

After they successfully managed to pay off their second loan the group applied for another loan for further business improvement. Sheila has expressed gratitude to fellow members for their support. She has managed to purchase a residential stand in Budiriro. Thrive trainings also helped her with the understanding of importance of continuous business cycles in order to maintain customer rate and smooth running of her business and diversification of product to suit customers’ needs.

Sheila is a 36 year old married mother of three. Even when resources are sometimes limited it is a different story for Sheila who runs a poultry business. Through her business profits, she has managed to improve her business from having a roadside stall by buying a deep freezer for refreshments and adding poultry.
