William's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped To generate enough capital to expand his mobile money transfer business in Malawi.

William's story

William is a 28 year old young man from Mzuzu in Malawi. William is part of the Zoona franchise in Malawi and runs his own mobile money transfer business.
This has largely increased his standard of living as he is now able to provide for his unemployed mother while simultaneously paying for his 2 younger siblings to complete their high school education.

William has always wanted to make a success of running his own business and Zoona has provided him with the opportunity and platform to do so. He tried various business ventures before realising that financial exclusion is the biggest problem being faced by locals in his community.

He then sought out to provide them with a safe, reliable money transfer platform. This means that locals no longer need to travel ridiculous distances in order to send and receive money to extended family networks for basic human needs. The problem is that Malawi is now faced with an economic crisis which is crippling small business. The costs of basic needs such as rent, food and transport has increased exponentially and William is now struggling to make ends meet. This is why he is reaching out to Kiva.

William would like to generate enough working capital to expand his business into other locations in Malawi so that he can see an upswing in revenue. Zoona has done market research and have found that the areas William is looking to expand into would be ideal for the traction he envisions for his business.

William thanks Kiva lenders for their trust and support.
