A loan helped to finish his studies in Automotive Mechatronics and create his own company.

Saul Florencio's story

Saúl is a young student from Abancay - Apurimac and he lives in Lima with his younger brother in his aunt's house. His parents passed away with he was very young. He is the 2nd of 5 brothers. He is a student in the degree of Automotive Mechatronics which he likes a lot because it deals more with the electronic parts of the cars. During high school, for 3 years, he took courses in mechanics and got a lot of experience in the field of mechanics but didn't know about the electronics and his professor recommended that he study that degree which would be very useful for him in a few years.

His biggest worry is his younger brothers because they do not have their parents. He feels like he is the example for his brothers to follow because they do not have a parental figure. He wants to be a motivation of overcoming for his brothers and he will help them to better themselves every day.

He began studying towards the end of 2013 but the economy was not very stable and he had to go to work to be able to get the money that he needed to be able to study. Even so, he was able to continue with his studies. Now he only needs one more year to finish his studies, so he is asking for Kiva's support so that his degree isn't cut short and he can achieve his professional goals.

The studying has been going well for him although at times it is a bit complicated to study without knowing his qualifications because he was not up-to-date on his payments. He trusted in his qualifications to get ahead. He dedicates 8 hours a day to his studies. When he finishes studying, he would like to work in a factory to be able to get experience and eventually be able to open his own auto shop. That is his goal and every day he works to achieve it. His economic situation would improve and he will help his family.

Kiva appeals to him because he can get support and he can finish his degree as he doesn't have much left to become a professional. He will use this loan to pay off his monthly payments on time and he can see the progress he is getting according to the qualifications he is receiving. His biggest dream in life is to be able to finish his degree and open his own factory in the place where he was born to be able to improve the quality of life of many people there who have known him since he was born.

The obstacles he's faced are the lack of money and affection because it is very influential that a father is very concerned for his child, seeing his grades and visiting him at his school. This is something that is very sad for him because he sees his classmates with their parents and he would have liked to be in their place, but that is life and he will get to live those moments by caring for his younger brothers who see him as the father that they lost when they were little.

Saúl wants to say a few words to the Kiva investors as a sign of thanks for the given support: "I feel very thankful. It is an immense happiness to know that people help without even knowing you or knowing anything about you, just with the intention of you finishing your studies. It gives me more strength to be able to finish studying and match the help that people have given me. Thank you so much and may God bless each and every one of you in your lives and your families. Thank you for helping young people like us with limited resources. Thanks with all my heart, Kiva!!"
