Flor De Maguey 3 Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy supplies, motor oil, brake discs, brake pads and car batteries.

Flor De Maguey 3 Group's story

I´m Rebeca Isabel. I´m 29 years old. I studied up to the second grade of elementary education: my parents told me that they were able to support me to study but I preferred to learn weaving. Now I´m married and I know how to weave. My three daughters give me a thousand reasons to continue striving. I have tried to teach them how to distinguish between good and evil.

My husband studied to the sixth grade of elementary education: then he went to Guatemala City to learn automobile mechanics. When he came back to Chajul, he set up a car mechanics workshop.
The Chajulense Association of Women United for Life credits have allowed us to buy supplies and tools for servicing our customers' vehicles. We will be using this year's credit to buy supplies, motor oil, brake discs, brake pads and car batteries.

I am the leader of the Flor de Maguey 3 Group which comprises seven women who are all from the Ixil Maya ethnicity. The group members will use their loans as follows: for agriculture 14%; textiles 29%; retail 43%; and services 14%. On average, each group member has three children. Among the group members, the average age is 41; 43% are illiterate; 28% didn't complete their primary education; 14% finished the seventh grade; and 14% have the equivalent of a high school degree. The average amount of each member's loan is GTQ 4,314.
