Belleza Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase popsicles, chilies, peanuts, pumpkin seed brittle, chips, dough for pork rinds, cookies, juice, sugar, milk, and bags for hielitos [frozen treats].

Belleza Group's story

In different communities in Veracruz, it is common to appreciate vast fields of sugar cane, large oak trees, and rustic pastures where they raise cattle and poultry for personal use and to sell. Therefore, the view is enviable and if it is combined with the clean air that goes through the fields and the beautiful song of the birds, one can be assured that it is an especially magical place.

“Belleza” is the name of the group formed in one of the colonies. They chose this name since one of the members has an beauty salon with this name. Its members are: Liliana, who sells groceries; Guadalupe, beauty salon; Salma, shoes; Tomas, a blacksmith; Guillermina, sweets, and Francisco, plumber and electrician.

Guillermina is the single mother of two children in primary school. "Like my parents cared for me, so now I care for them with love," said Guille, as she is known in her colony. To achieve her goals, six years ago she decided to begin to sell sweets. With the help of a wire, she hung her merchandise in the window of her house in addition to a poster with the words "Delicious hielitos sold," referring to a local sweet.

With the earnings gotten, she can reinvest and offer more merchandise to her young customers although she accepts with a smile that many adults also come by for a snack or sweet. "Thanks to God, I sell very well, above all with students at the nearby schools; now I will include the sale of fruit for those who don't eat candies," she said enthusiastically.

At this time, Guille has asked for a loan to purchase popsicles, chilies, peanuts, pumpkin seed brittle, chips, dough for pork rinds, cookies, juice, sugar, milk, and bags for the famous hielitos [frozen treats].
