Florida Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy thread and fabric wholesale.

Florida Group's story

The “Florida” Communal Bank is about to start its first loan cycle with Pro Mujer, as part of the Juan Pablo II centre. It is made up of eight members and is led by a board of directors of which Vanessa is the President. The businesses which the members of the communal bank run are varied and among these are: sewing workshop, cattle sales, lubricants workshop, food sales, handicrafts, milk sales, neighbourhood shop, perfume sales, toy sales, petticoat sales.

The loan they are going to take out will benefit small micro businesswomen including Vanessa. She says that this is the first year she has been a member of Pro Mujer, having joined at the invitation of her friends who belong to the institution. Currently her business is a sewing workshop (making casual clothing for children). She says she learnt this business working in a factory, which encouraged her to open her small workshop a few years ago.

The loan she is going to take out is to increase her capital to buy thread and fabric wholesale, which she will buy from the saleswomen in the city of La Paz. She will then make the clothing and sell it in her sales outlet. This type of work allows her to generate an income to support her family financially, as she is married and has a son.

When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she replies that she likes the training and the health area provided by the institution.
