A loan helped to purchase improved farm inputs that will increase farm yields.

Isiya's story

Isiya is a Babban Gona maize farmer. He is a hardworking married man with three children. His youngest children are Shashida and Nafisa, whom he hopes grow up to be successful farmers. During the hunger season, his family was only able to eat two times a day despite working several hours on the farm.

As a Babban Gona member Isiya will have access to seeds, fertilizer, herbicides and other quality inputs that will help him optimize his farm and attain yields up to 3.5 metric tons per hectare, 2.3 times the national average in Nigeria and increase his income earnings up to 3.5 times the national average.

With this increase in yield, he can now ensure that his family never goes hungry again. This season, he will use his additional income to be able to go on pilgrimage. Isiya‘s greatest memory as a Babban Gona farmer is when he got great good yields and he is sure that with Babban Gona he will have many more.
