Souleymane's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase sheep to raise and resell.

Souleymane's story

Souleymane is a 37-year-old Malian farmer. He is married with three children, two of whom attend school. His wife keeps a small garden where she grows tomatoes, onions, and peppers for the family’s consumption, and sells any surplus at the village market. For the past 15 years, Souleymane has earned a living raising sheep. Since partnering with RMCR, he has been able to grow his business considerably by using the loan funds to purchase additional lambs. He raises and then sells the sheep at the weekly markets in neighbouring villages for a profit of 50,000-75,0000 per head. Souleymane’s earnings allow him to pay for his family’s expenses, including food, health care, and school fees. Despite the high cost of animal feed, he is considering diversifying his business in the future by raising cattle as well.
