Htan Ta Pin 1 Village Group's story
Htan Ta Pin 1 Village Group is located in Pakokku Township which is part of the dry region of Myanmar. Pictured above are the CBO members named Aung, Han, Tin, Toe and Shwe. These CBO leaders oversee 23 village loan clients. With the loan supported by Kiva, they will purchase farming essentials and pay for labor fees needed for harvest time. The featured borrower Aung, the second one from the right in the picture, is 60 years old. He mainly works as a farmer to support his family, including his two children. He is proud of both of his sons as they help him on his farm where they plant maize, beans and potatoes. Like other members, Aung intends to buy farming essentials and hire laborers for harvest time in order to expand his crop farm because he has been operating this farm for over 10 years. Aung eagerly wants to support his two sons to start their own businesses, this is why he is working so hard. Aung is known as a helpful and kind-hearted man in the village as he always participates enthusiastically towards the village’s development. Htan Ta Pin 1 Village Group’s main focus is crop farming, as well as other seasonal foods.
