Mario Victorino's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!
A loan helped to convert waste into renewable energy and fertilizer.
Mario Victorino's story
Mario is looking forward to eliminating wood, fossil fuels and chemical fertilizers from his farm by transforming his cows' and hogs' manure into renewable energy (biogas) and organic fertilizer through his Sistema Biobolsa biodigester. He is looking forward to reducing his expenses while protecting the environment and improving his farm's productivity. As he starts inputting the waste in the biodigester, bacteria will convert it to biogas to cook and heat water, and nutrient-rich fertilizer that Mario will apply on his corn and forage field. The yield will increase in a sustainable manner, and Mario will use the money he used to spend on fossil fuels and chemicals to invest in buying additional cows, aiming at expanding his small cheese production unit. This loan represents 22% of the full price of the biodigester, the remaining part was covered by a cash downpayment and a government subsidy.
