Angelina's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to build a wall that will prevent her house from flooding and finally have a kitchen where she can feed her family.

Angelina's story

Angelina lives in Xochimilco with her husband and one son and makes a living through catalog sales of beauty products. They have lived in the same house for the last 24 years. She loves living near the Xochimilco river and hearing the water running. However, when it rains, the river overflows flooding her crops and sometimes even her house. This overflowing is occurring more frequently in the recent years. Angelina tried to create a barrier with rocks she collected but water is still coming through the crack and although it prevents the land from sliding, it still ruins the crops and allows water in.

Angelina is requesting a loan to buy the necessary materials to build a proper retention wall that will keep her crops safe and her house dry. With this loan, Angelina will also build her kitchen. This has been a long time dream for her, but given all the recent flooding, she has not been able to start with the work. Angelina will be helped by her husband and son and will receive technical visits to ensure that the construction meets safety and quality standards.

Angelina is grateful for this opportunity because accessing credit from other institutions is almost impossible for her, given the informality of her job. Angelina is excited about finally having a good crop season and a kitchen where she can receive family, friends and even clients, making them feel at home and cooking her specialties for them.
