Sharmila And Group

Gangarampur, WB, India / Agriculture

Sharmila And Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase raw materials such as seeds, fertilizers, labor, etc., to expand her paddy cultivation.

Sharmila And Group's story

Thirty-two-year-old Sharmila, the leader of this group of nine, runs her own paddy cultivation business. This hardworking woman, who is also a mother of three children, is a resident of the South Dinajpur district of West Bengal. She is seeking a loan to purchase seeds, fertilizers, water and labor to expand her paddy cultivation business.

As the prices of essential commodities are constantly on the rise with little to no increase in her income, she feels expanding her business is the only way to earn and save more for her children's future. However, she lacks the requisite funds to make this huge, one-time investment.

Similarly, the other eight ladies of the group also run their own micro-enterprises that they seek to expand to generate more income. Hence, they decided to form a group and applied for a loan from Society for Model Gram Bikash Kendra, a partner of Milaap. They are well aware of the group rules and agreed to abide by them and are grateful to all their lenders.
