Jesus Arturo's story

Jesús is a 63-year-old coffee grower with more than 40 years of experience as a farmer. He is married and has two dependent children. He dreams of having various sources of income so as not to rely solely on coffee. He currently produces honey and now wants to start growing vegetables.

Growing vegetables in greenhouses is a very common technique in the region as it allows for 100% organic production. Besides, there is a very big market for these products. Jesus wants to start by building a greenhouse for organic tomatoes which he will sell through COCAFCAL of which he is a member. With the earnings from the products he sells, Jesus intends not to be dependent only on coffee and will have a better chance of improving his quality of life by doing so.

He is asking for a loan so he can buy the materials he needs to build a greenhouse, such as wood, tomato plants, drip irrigation, and plastic covering, among other items. The loan will help Jesus to have his own greenhouse in which he will grow organic vegetables which he will sell thereby reducing his reliance on income from coffee.
