María Emilia's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support
A loan helped to increase her assortment of products: sweets, drinks and beer.
María Emilia's story
Maria is a lovely 49 year-old-woman who lives with her children ages 26 and 13 in a neighborhood in Bogota. She dreams of having her own business, since she doesn’t have the support of a husband; she is separated and has to generate her own income in order to feed her family. With the funds from a loan, she bought a small restaurant in a shopping mall in the city and has managed to fulfill all of the basic necessities of her family with the fruits of her labor. Maria is happy that she has had so much success in her job, and she is applying for a loan through Kiva, her first financing with Kiva's field partner Fundacion Mario Santo Domingo, in order to increase her assortment of products: sweets, drinks and beer. She plans to buy these wholesale to decrease the cost. Her personal goal is to finish paying off the mortgage on her apartment and to leave an inheritance to her children.
