Julieta Geni's story

The San Cristóbal communal bank meets every fortnight in the city of Tosagua. This place is known for being very dynamic. The majority of it's inhabitants make a living in agriculture and raising animals.

Julieta lives in this place, She is 48 years old, separated and from this realtionship has three adult children. The youngest still lives in her house.

She is a woman who likes to make her own living and generate her own resources which helps her to get ahead alone, plus help her children with their expenses. For more than 20 years she has stocked a food store with the support of the loans in a space that she rents in the local market. She pays a monthly amount to the municipality for the space. She works there every day and sometimes her daughter helps her with the sales. But it is her that spends the most time providing the best service she can as she knows she'll gain more customers every day doing this. Which allows her to generate more income for her and her family.

With this loan she will buy rice, sugar and other foods to stock her business and increase the variety of products. She has been in the communal bank since it's start and she likes it as the loans have allowed her to improve her business.
